|HSAT SUMMER NEWSLETTER
Hi all, welcome to our summer edition of the HSAT newsletter. We have plenty going on. Thanks to the Hull college team & our partners who attended our recent summer team meeting at Kardomah to find out our latest plans and offer your support.
Thank you to everyone who supported Pride this year. We are glad to be involved, many of you mentioned the festival feel. Pride organisers pass on their sincere thanks for your support.
We are looking forward to Humber Sesh this weekend! A fantastic opportunity to support the event and join a dedicated team including Justine & Callum.
We look forward to supporting Freedom across the three day event. Police and event organisers send their thanks for your offer of support.
We are looking for ideas and expression of interests from event organisers/our volunteers as to which other events in Hull to support throughout the year – for example, it has been suggested we support Veterans Day next year.
PLANS FOR LATER THIS YEAR
OUR DRY BAR
We are looking to run a dry bar, filled with refreshments and mocktails, including the perfect recipe for the perfect (but safe) night out. We have bought a pop up bar stand to promote the idea. This dry bar will be launched on fresher’s week (last week of September) as part of our drink and friend awareness campaign and will be out on key nights. We will also offer information and encourage donations towards our charity. If our partner agencies would like to get involved with supporting us with this project, please get in touch! Also we are looking for snappy names for our dry bar, send ideas over 😀
Drink and Friend Awareness Campaign
As part of our grant from Hull CCG we are launching our school & college workshops in September promoting safe drinking and passing a series of resources that schools can discuss with their pupils. We showcased the fantastic short films from Hull College at our summer meeting at Kardomah – both enable people to think about sticking with their friends, this will be showcased local, shared on social media and shared with partner agencies. We will also have a range of hand outs & marketing materials that local premises will display to provoke thinking about staying safe.
Pub scheme agreement
We are working closely with local premises to promote the work we undertake, work closely with our projects. Shortly we will circulating to pubs and bars a range of bar mats promoting safe drinking, as part of the drink and friend awareness campaign. We also are looking at ways we can all work more closely, following Nick attending the local night time economy meeting.
We are very pleased to announce we have been successful in obtaining funding from YAPP charity of £2,500 per year, for the next three years to help us to deliver the excellent work we undertake.
We are also very pleased that William Jackson Food Group have donated £2,500 towards our charity to further the great work we undertake.
If you would like to donate £5 to HSAT please text HSAT10 £5 to 70070 to pay via Just Text Giving
Watch our website shortly for updates with new volunteer profiles and more information for corporate sponsors. This is currently being updated.
From May 2012 to date, we have now helped over 3,000 people directly!
City of Culture
We are looking forward to further meetings with our colleagues at the city of culture team to see how we can support evening events during 2017 & offer support to the city of culture volunteers. There will be some fantastic opportunities for HSAT volunteers to get involved in.
National Diversity Award
Unfortunately, despite a great effort we were not shortlisted for this award. HOWEVER, we had some phenomenal feedback and the 7 shortlisted national teams that were shortlisted were extremely tough competition. We wish all nominees the very best of luck.
Our team continues to grow, if you would like to help in some way, get in touch with Luke Cardwell, our volunteer coordinator
